First Step - select a team:

Western Bev's Pony Juice Express

Garage Headquarters: Denver, CO

Driver: Toby Plank

Mechanics: Ed Kysar, Nick Wiseman, Rob Bowman

Nuts and Bolts:

Rob Bowman, Ed Kysar, Toby Plank, and Nick Wiseman all work in sales for Western Beverage, a proud distributor of many of the world’s best quaffables. They’re all Colorado natives, too, and they share the same need for speed; which is why they were excited to learn that the Red Bull Soapbox Race is coming to Denver this year. “We’re also all fat – and not the good phat!” laughs Toby, who doesn’t intend to let a few love handles get in the way of clocking a good time on Trading Post Road.

The wooden racer that the team is assembling in Nick’s Denver garage was inspired by the Red Rocks Post Office, which was a stop for the Pony Express. The impression made by the stagecoach car will be enhanced further when the teammates push it to the start line dressed like outlaw cowboys, right down to the chaps. A true salesman even off the job, Toby alerts spectators, judges, and competitors alike to “prepare for the thunder of the Pony Juice Express” and elaborates, “We’ve watched hours of Soapbox footage, and we know we need to be outlandish, gregarious, and enjoy the moment. We’ll do whatever it takes to humiliate ourselves and pump up the crowd.” As a footnote, he adds, “Don’t look for us to bring it, because it already has done been brought!”
