Team “Blutarsky’s Revenge” aren’t afraid to throw down a little trash talk – in their own inimitable fashion. “Unlike the rest of the competitors, we put our pants on both legs at once,” says team captain Sam Selonick obscurely. “And we can all recite the Greek alphabet in under five seconds.” Yeah, fine. But will the ability to dress like a supermodel backstage at a runway show – or a talent for deciphering the symbols on the front of a fraternity house – really help these guys win a soapbox race?

“I can’t speak for the models, though I’d certainly like to study the issue,” Selonick states. “But we actually live in a fraternity house, so deciphering the Greek letters on sororities is a prized skill. In fact, campus life in general is part of our whole race theme.” Selonick and his teammates Ray Arbusto, David Meyer, Nate “Tex” Robbins, and Peter Swanson are all fraternity brothers at the University of Rochester, and they’re basing their soapbox entry on the film “Animal House.” Blutarsky, you’ll remember, was the John Belushi character beloved and reviled for his food fights, toga chants, and literally “driving” the establishment crazy during a homecoming parade. “Our biggest challenge,” Selonick admits, “will be gaining enough weight to do Belushi justice.”
