It’s all in their name: Team Win. “You can send us the winnings and trophy now, because we have already decided we won this race,” says Joe Colicelli, who will be piloting his New Jersey group’s soapbox racer down Waterman Street. He continues, “And as a side note: People say there is a slight difference between arrogance and confidence – I like to think our team has reached a happy medium.”

In other words, look out, Providence contenders. These guys aren’t messing around. They won’t take any guff; not even from each other. And they haven’t since they were friends back at Manasquan High School more than five years ago. “The basic fabric of our friendship relies on us belittling each other every time we hang out,” says Colicelli in reference to himself and teammates Felipe Caamano, Justin Harten, Justin Smith, and the appropriately named Scott Brash. “We are all also willing to push boundaries that most people won’t and many times act on spite.” Which means that their theme – the outrageous, authority-defying hijinks of the 1978 movie “Animal House” – suits them to a T. Colicelli elaborates with a wry grin, “We’re going to entertain the crowd with absolute nonsense…which is why they are there, isn’t it?”
