The O-Neg, Nosferatus
Garage Headquarters: Freehold, NJ
Driver: Jeff Brown
Mechanics: Matt Brown, Nick Coughlin
Nuts and Bolts:
Evidently, the family that walks by night and drinks blood together wins Red Bull Soapbox heats together. Or at least that's what Jeff Brown, Matt Brown, and Nick Coughlin are counting on. Jeff and Matt are father and son. Nick is their zombie lab assistant. Together, they're The Nosferatus, who will be flapping their way up from New Jersey (under cover of darkness, of course) to race a soapbox car that's loosely based on the Munsters' Dragula. "We have all been vampire and zombie fans for years," says Jeff. "In our skit, Dracula will turn into a bat and get his wings from consuming Red Bull. We figure Rob Zombie's song 'Dragula' is appropriate for the music."
Beyond providing entertainment, though, the team needs to come up with some competitive technology for their racer. In his Garden State woodshop, Jeff has been trying to draw on memories of the last soapbox car he created: a Cub Scout project some forty years ago. The task doesn't seem to faze him. "We are gonna have fun, fun, fun," he anticipates. "I've just got to make sure the thing can stop!"
